Overview

Well, for those who know me, you all know I was born an explorer, heck my third name is Dorah. With no limits to where my feet can go, many memories have been created over my unending quest.

I met this guy. Like me, his thirst for adventure has got him knowing the country like the back of his hand. I don’t know much of local tourism …but I blame it on our media. When they discuss tourism, they paint a vague picture of foreigners with very powerful cameras, taking photos of our tourist attraction sites and tipping those who serve them generously. Neo colonialism if you ask me. However, the ministry of tourism and culture is making efforts towards promoting local tourism with brands like #MagicalKenya, #TembeaKenya and #MakeItKenya.
Despite these efforts, we tend to have a premeditated mindset of what to expect from this country of ours, think wildlife, think Maasai Mara. Think sea life, think Mombasa. Forgetting that the coastal strip stretches beyond Mombasa, all the way to Kilifi, Malindi all the way to Lamu. Those are like four counties traversed.
At one point during our late-night conversation, Mr. Man decided to challenge my knowledge as a traveler by asking what I know about domestic tourism. Apart from my few expeditions to Mombasa, I don’t know much. This triggered him to introduce me to his local dream destination.
His dream destination (which turned out to be mine) is a place where he happened to pass by and get a sneak peek. Allow me to give a brief description of the place. This destination topped the rankings in terms of the top five most romantic destinations in Kenya according to Pulselive in 2018. First of all, we are talking about the very same venue where the Royal British Monarch, Prince Williams proposed to the current duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton. Located in the Northern slopes of the mighty mountain, Kirinyaga...or as it is known to the white man…Mt Kenya. Out of curiosity, I dug deeper into this destination that bae loves. According to the Travel Start Blog, this place ranks at number 8 in Africa in terms of the most desired travel destinations

Located at about 10,000ft above sea level, this place does not have any concrete buildings but log cabins superbly isolated from civilization. Knowing how I like to spend time with my man, this is an ideal place for me to travel with him because there’s no local network available. With his nature of work, his phone is always ringing with the person on the other end making enquiries about this or that. Having a place where we can go for a week or two without external disturbance can guarantee me as much time with him as I desire. Don’t get me wrong, he always makes time for me. However, I wouldn’t mind more time... like duh! This is a place where we can go fish and console each other because we are clearly bad fishers or celebrate luck if we catch a fish or two in the serene quiet environment, pure fresh air not affected by air pollution due to industrialization and the beautiful view of one of the few lakes located in the mountain slopes. True to the word, this destination is one of Kenya’s best kept open secret where only those on top of the food chain know. Not the local rich guys flaunting their corruption wealth but the world’s top. Knowing that I was born for greatness, the question is…..why not? Why not go there with the man I love? Why not go there with the man that treats me not like a duchess but the queen, Why not? On top of it all… I love my cuddles. Yes, this place is cold. Colder than the perpetual fog in Limuru, this means that in our trip to this place, cuddles will be in plenty, and we would entirely depend on each other’s body temperature for comfort. Yes, no man is an island. For this reason, we would both be vulnerable and depend on each other more than we normally do. And in the quietness of the night when all is said and done, after we interlock our bodies, we would have a sensual energy exchange under the moonlight. With its rays penetrating our log cabins.
Some people dream and wish it could be true, but for this one, I dream but I will not wish. Being a deeply spiritual lady, I lean toward the scriptures saying that whatever the mind perceives, and heart believe, thou shall receive. We are already saving towards this and I can honestly say, I can’t wait for RUTUNDU. MY DREAM DESTINATION

TRIED

They would discuss how their husbands want to marry a second wife and how it is a good idea because the “small wife” would help around with the chores

I actually do admire their generosity when it comes to honoring and submitting to their husbands.
